Anderson was good most of the first season. But before it finished he kind of lost motivation, like he got one those immune syndrome diseases that makes it hard to get out of bed…

He always tries his best but he just aint that good, cant shoot to save his life

Surely Downes alongside Rice and Paqueta is worth a go

Fornals isn't the same type of player. I was making the comparison as someone else had - Fornals tries his best in every match is the point. Anderson certainly did not.

Anderson did at least contribute 10 goals in his first year at the club. Can't see Fornals ever doing that, or indeed any of our players this season.

I've got to say I love matches at Elland Road. A very good atmosphere, good back and forth with their fans. Proper old ground in middle of city.

I didn't think at any point that I thought we'd win even after going ahead. We never look like scoring from open play unless there is a moment of brilliance like Scamacca. We repeatedly get to point where we can put in a final ball/pass and then that final ball/pass is poor and/or there is so little movement that there is simply no-one available in the box.

As for Fornals, I really love him. But he's not good enough to be a starter. He does at least contribute more than Anderson did.

Saw a replay as was at work. I thought we were much improved last night in spells but our defensive frailties let us down for those goals and our subs were hardly inspiring.

Despite getting a point, and it’s baby steps l, I don’t think we’re going to suddenly transform into a side which can save itself any time soon without investment or a new manager or both. Moyes has given himself a reprieve until the Wolves game but he has to go if we lose that.

Re: ⚽ Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Fornals is nothing like Anderson.

In theory, Anderson might be a better player, but, in practice, he ended up giving us a very low percentage of his potential.

Fornals gives us pretty much everything he's got.

Re: ⚽ Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Coufal's effort was the closest he's come to scoring for us, iirc

Re: ⚽ Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Carl Jenkinson was the Arsenal fullback everyone hated (eventually).

When he went back to Arsenal, lots of us wanted him back, but Arsenal looked like keeping him, until they realised he was a bit shit. They then let generously us loan him again, only for us to realise he was a bit shit.

Fast of foot, slow in the head. Pretty sure we once conceded a goal when he was beaten to the ball by a slower-paced player who started behind him, simply because he didn't realise he needed to run.

He now plays for Newcastle United...

...Jets, a team from the Australian city.

Anyone mentioned Coufals shot from the halfway line? Not bad, I would have pissed myself laughing if that had gone in. Just loved the audacity of it.

Ted, Fornals puts himself about a bit and gets tackles in. But just opinions, not important and no worries.

I really hope you're right AOI but on a few matches now I've watched him for most of the game and he really does remind me of Anderson chases the oposition but hardly ever makes a tackle and it does my head in.
As I said I hope I'm wrong and he goes on to be one of our top players but I won't hold my breath.

Re: ⚽ Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Comparing Fornals to Anderson is another silly comment. Anderson had zero positional awareness and constantly left our left full back exposed. Whether you rate him or not, Fornals is the exact opposite of that! In saying that, Fornals is not a left midfielder in spite of Moyes’ insistence. He is perfect in a midfield three for us on his work rate and pressing alone. He also gets himself into great positions and I accept he needs to sharpen up his shooting/finishing, but at least he is getting the chances. Few others are.

Your description of Pablo Fornals as a disgrace is ludicrous.
I believe we tend to play better with him in the side. Yes, he isn't a complete player, but who is. He has a great eye for a forward pass which not many others in our squad have.
His one big failing is his shooting. Last night I recall three shots all of which he miss-hit. In fact even when he scores he's usually miss-hit the strike.

But then Rice can't shoot either and he doesn't get crucified for it.

Mark my words, if Moyes keeps starting Fornals then we will pick up points.

Re: ⚽ Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Another game where Moyes looked clueless, clueless selection, clueless subs, another change in formation, playing Kehrer LB what the fuck was that all about?!?!?

Didnt think we deserved to be 2 up in all honesty, but the 3 points at that point were there for the taking. Thought Scamacca had a 20 min spell either side of half time where he looked much better.....got a goal then gets hooked. Unbelievable. Lucky to not concede at the end, we just need some new ideas, new methods and someone who can get them running and pressing again. Moyes is done here, even if he wins the next two its just prolonging the inevitable.

Kehrer was so bad, how was this guy at PSG?? Looks way to slow and relaxed all the time, a shocking performance. Thought Fornals did his usual of runniing about alot but with no quality on the ball and how did he completely miss the goal for the chance before the pen??

Rice was good as per, apart from the shots which kept falling to him and he would leather towards the corner flag. Paqueta much better too, hopefully that goal kicks him on a bit.

At least we didnt lose, but i'm not sure under Moyes you can even see the corner let alone turn it

Fabianski: Old and past it now. At his age and experience should be making more noise and letting his central defenders know where the gaps and movements are. Good couple of saves but we need to upgrade.

Kherer: Where the fuck did we get him from. Cannot play in any position across the defence and should never pull the shirt on again.

Dawson: Love him but his heart wants a move to the midlands, he doesn't seem to have a rapport with anyone in centre back other than Oggy, Give him his move

Augeurd: Worth a starting place but needs to learn quicker from his mistakes and needs a stronger player to play off of, either Oggy or Zuma, that has presence and will let him know where he is going wrong.

Both goals were the centre backs faults last night for lack of communication and covering each other. Got pulled apart by average players.

Coufal: Love his workman like attitude and work rate. Not the best but good enough for us for the time begin and not a desperate need to change, although if we gave a youngster half a chance if we were to ever be up and infront in a game for the last 10 mins it would be good to see some of our youth push him for a starting position.

Fornals: Love the guy but a good squad player not a starter. He had such hopes when he came but he just hasn't kicked on and shown that potential most people thought he had. A good egg but not a starting 11 player

Soucek, What has gone wrong? a shadow of his former self. Perhaps it is time for him to face a new challenge away from WH

Rice: Gutted but his heart just isn't there. Seen him make more mistakes in 3 games back from the world cup than I did in the past 3 years. Cash in at the highest price we can and wish him the best of luck with his future, just not to chelsea or liverpool please.

Paqueta: Is he too good for us or not good enough? Does he need more time or does he need better players around him? Love his ability to keep a ball, wish he could use his right foot to kick with instead of just walk on, Jury's out on if he is a good fit for us or not.

Bowen: Showed glimpses this season of his past endeavours but has lost the ability to get into a game and put his marker down. Think a new manager would get better out of him but right now somethings not right

Scamacca: Needs to play alongside someone, he isn't a lone target man and in the right formation I think he could come good.

Moyes: Hated him coming first time, was happy he left, Even more unhappy second time but gave him credit where it was due when he got the team playing as a team. However credit has run out now. Keeps playing square pegs in round holes and when it doesn't work he changes them for different square pegs. Has no foresight or ability to change a formation mid way. Thanks for the memories Moyes, but can you please get out of our club.

Absolutely ridiculous comment. I know people have set their stool out on Fornals, and I know he missed some decent chances, but he showed tonight why he is important. He is the only player in our team who constantly presses. We are better side with him in it, it’s as simple as that.

Sorry have to disagree I've watched him and he's a bit like Anderson runs and runs but hardly ever makes a tackle !!!

It's as simple as that.

Playing Fornals gives us an intensity and energy that's lacking otherwise, Paqueta seemed to play a lot better with Pablo in there, he might yet find his feet in this league.

I've never been a fan of Fornals but accept he should be a starter now, sign of the times I suppose. He just gives us that more energy and desire and can pick out the occasional pass and nick the odd goal. Him sitting on the bench while the imposter Soucek 'plays' is fucking ridiculous.

Not fair to dig out Fornals (who was okay, nothing more) but not Soucek as the game passed him by completely.

Moyes must go.

Funny how the most hated players for us are always the full backs. Kherer, Masuaku, creswell etc.. who was that arsenal fullback that everyone hated as well? what is it about the full back positions at West Ham?

Feels like shitty midfielders like soucek get away with so much for so long with the fans. Full back just get it in the neck constantly.

The funniest thing I saw last night was Fornals get two consecutive chances at goal and hit them exactly the same.. well wide! How shit is that? That tells you everything about the accuracy of our team in front of goal. (Excluding scamaca)

Antonio was abysmal when he got on but Kehrer was truly awful, even when he switched to a position he actually plays.

Worst possible result, no loss, not quite in the relegation zone and we're stuck with Moyes. For fucks sake.

Watch Everton pull the plug on Lampard and scoop up a decent manager from somewhere by the weekend leaving us completely fucked.
